10 Shows to Rewatch During the Quarantine

by İrem Akay

10. Gossip Girl

Honestly, almost every single person we know has grown up watching Gossip Girl on CNBC-E as a child, even though we were definitely a bit too young for it. The story, which follows the lives of a spoiled group of teens living in Upper East Side of Manhattan, is full of drama and betrayals that is sure to keep you entertained in quarantine. Even if you’ve already been spoiled as to who the mystery Gossip Girl revealing information about these characters are, we think the show still stands as a gripping and trashy entertainment that is almost as relevant today as it was back in the day.

9. Glee

As those of you who have already seen it would know, Glee is a fun and certainly campy experience, full of over dramatic plotlines and overproduced musical numbers. Though it certainly loses its charm during some of the later seasons, with it song choices and memorable characters, Glee is a show that is sure to provide comfort to anyone who needs it during these tough times that we are in. Even if you are hesitant to watch the show itself, here are some great covers that we find to be almost as good as the originals from the cast, that you can listen and vibe to:

  • Rumor Has It/Someone Like You

  • Valerie

  • Smooth Criminal

  • Survivor/I Will Survive

  • Anything by Darren Criss (Blaine in the show)

8. Black Mirror

Black Mirror is certainly an exciting and eye opening show. With each episode portraying separate stories of alternative futures, it brings a new perspective to the way we may live in decades to come. With interesting technological developments and the way they affect human lives, Black Mirror allows us to realize to what extent we are dependent on technology. Since the episodes are not connected, the following episodes are highly recommended for those who have not yet watched the show:

From Season 1:

  • Fifteen Million Merits

  • The Entire History of You

From Season 2:

  • White Bear

All Episodes of Season 3

From Season 4:

  • Hang the DJ

  • Black Museum

  • Arkangel

  • USS Callister

From Season 5:

  • Striking Vipers

7. You

A thriller like no other, “You” is the story of how an obsessive psychopath tries to make a girl fall in love with him. The series include a lot of action and shocking scenes, full of plot twists and a storyline that will keep you at the edge of your seat. With its new seasons coming soon, it is the perfect series to rewatch the first 2 seasons, which only has 20 episodes in total. It surely is very entertaining and exciting!

6. Rupaul's Drag Race

Are you ready to start your engines? If the answer is yes, then Rupaul’s Drag Race is the perfect show for you. With a modern twist to the idea of an elimination-based TV reality competition, it is a show like no other. With challenges that test the participating drag queens abilities of singing, dancing, acting, improvising, impersonating, sewing, designing, telling jokes, and last but not least, lip syncing, it is literally the hardest show on TV and equally enjoyable for the viewers! With 12 seasons, 4 All Stars seasons, 12 seasons of Untucked!, 1 season of UK edition, 1 christmas special, and dozens of more spin-offs, it will surely keep you busy and entertained in these long quarantine days.

5. How To Get Away With Murder

Even though you may not like law, this series will make you interested without a doubt. With a protagonist who is a lawyer, the show revolves around major cases that she encounters and small ones throughout the seasons. With endless action, plot twists, and original cases, “How To Get Away With Murder” is more than just a courtroom reality series, it is so much more, with which you can enjoy your time during the quarantine.

4. Friends

A classic sitcom that probably everybody alive has already seen. Especially in quarantine when we are more separated now more than ever, the story of Friends, which follows the hilarious lives of 6 friends living in New York, is sure to provide you company. Many pretentious people will claim it is overrated, but honestly Friends is the reason many of us started watching sitcoms in the first place. Except for maybe the last one, each season is funny and dramatic and you should certainly rewatch it if you can’t bring yourself to start an entirely new series.

3. Game of Thrones

With the show coming to an end last year, it is still one of the highest quality shows you can watch. Even though it is not on Netflix, it is definitely worth watching from another streaming platform. With multiple awards and recognitions, it really is one of the highest quality productions. For those of you who did not watch it (???), it is about a kingdom with different houses, competing amongst themselves and forming alliances. It is a show that cannot be described in a few sentences, as 8 seasons were filled with plot twists, original screen writing, and endless entertainment.

2. How I Met Your Mother

When you think of sitcoms, How I Met Your Mother will probably be one of the first names that will pop into your head, and that is because of how iconic it was during the time that it aired. With memorable catch phrases, lovable characters (except for Ted whom we hate) and incredible running jokes, How I Met Your Mother was one of those shows that we grew up watching, and that can be rewatched anytime and still hold its original value. Though as we all know it, the ending was awful, you can certainly enjoy the rest, as each season is as strong as the next one. As we are going through difficult times, it is sure to provide a good laugh when you need it!

1. Survivor

We can sense many of you will have a pre-existing bias towards this show but let us explain why it is honestly the best thing on TV right now. Acun Ilıcalı’s brilliant TV8 hit Survivor is a MUST watch during quarantine if you wanna keep yourself entertained. With more drama and action this season that it previously ever had, once you start watching it, you literally cannot stop. It even has a romance subplot this year which allows Acun to prove he can literally do it all. The show has parkours, “Anlat Bakalım” contests, auctions for FOOD(!), weight guessing games 😍, and so much more! Some of our favourite contestants include Barış Murat Yağcı (who is on his way to win the entire thing), Cemal Can Canseven and Nisa Bölükbaşı. We hate the entire Ünlüler team except for Aycan in the Birleşme Partisi. With 4 hours of streaming EVERY SINGLE DAY OF THE WEEK!!!!, you can literally enjoy new content every day of your boring quarantine.
