OUR WINTER WONDERLAND

By İdil Ada Aydos

When the world is covered in white,

When the fire crackles against

The cold and chill and the silence of the night

As we wait for the clock to reach midnight

We were clouds carrying white, frosty powder.

We lost each flake one by one

We could no longer carry them

As the years passed

Santa bringing a rainbow of presents

Down the chimney with his sleigh

Struck the ground and melted

As we grew and realized

Everything being possible

The first day of the year

Delicate crystals of hope for a miracle

Fell down and fell down

When the magic deformed into reality

Did the fire die?

Were we suddenly awakened

To see wonder packing and leaving?

Gather closed ones around the hearth

Let go of the enchanting flakes

Why not create our own winter wonderland

And start the new year with joy and pray?
