THIS STREET

By Alara Savcı

I packed up my bag

And headed out the back

And found to my relief

A street bright and jolly

I looked to my right and

To find a penny or two

But that won’t fill me with sorrow

Nor with gloom

For this street is has bloomed

I saw the usual hairdresser

Bright with lights,

And my grocer

Decorated and luminous

I don’t have a coat to put on

But that won’t make me cold,

I have lights to keep me warm

With the drizzle and fizzle of the snow

I can see nothing but white

All over the skies

Although I am overworked and tired

The beauty of this street,

Will keep me up tonight

Bright fluff

Christmas trees

and lights

will keep me full tonight.
